We talked and laughed together, ate rice and noodles and sipped on expensive wine, then walked the bustling Hong Kong streets holding hands and stopping to look inside interesting shops. Mei told me that although she practices massage therapy in Hong kong she had originally gone to school to study English.
“Its what my father wanted me to learn, so I could go into business and make some money, like him. I finished my schooling and learned much about English literature and the English language. My class read and studied many poems and great works of literature. It was fascinating and I still read very often to keep up to date.” said Mei.
“So then what brought you into the field of massage therapy in Hong Kong?” I enquired.
“Well,” she began with a small laugh, like the sound of small wind chimes when struck with a pleasant breeze, “My father was not very happy with me but my Mother was very supportive. She paid for me to learn massage therapy in Hong Kong. I like reading and working with books, but I really wanted to make a difference in the world, influence people’s lives for the better. My heart beat like a hummingbird as I felt the sweet warmth of her lips on mine. I inhaled and she smelled wonderful, like some kind of lovely and exotic flower that had just unfurled its petals. We looked deep into one another’s eyes, and I knew then that this trip would be unforgettable.
So we continued to meet like this for the whole week, each day visiting new restaurants parks and museums and learning more about one another as we went. Yet sadly as the lovely days passed, it brought me closer to the time I would have to leave Hong Kong once more.
